International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has approved China Standardization Administration of China (SAC) to take up secretariat of Technical Committee ISO/TC264, the working group of Fireworks, in October 2011. ISO is made up of 163 members of countries. It is the world largest standards developing organization. Development of ISO/TC264 shows importance of fireworks used around the world.
Since Hunan is the biggest fireworks manufacturing area in China, SAC set up office of secretariat in Hunan. Dr. Libing Wang and Ms. Chaxiang Huang are appointed as Chairman and Secretary respectively. Founding ceremony was held at Liuyang on May 9, 2012. More than 200 officials, experts, academic scientists, manufacturers and stakeholders participates the ceremony.
The objectives of setting ISO standards of Fireworks can share safer and effective services of fireworks; safety distribution and healthy development among international market; assist countries to monitor quality of fireworks, maintain public security interests; and share information, technology of fireworks globally. There are a lot of works going on with the development of ISO/TC264.
