CE Family Grouping Guidance, states Family/Group is a number of individual items that considered for testing and certification purposes. The Family/Group have common characteristic such as caliber, composition, NEQ and etc.. Each Family/Group will also be identified by CE approval number (XXXX-FX-ZZZZ). All items within same family will share this same CE approval number. For testing purpose, the family at least contains 33 pcs of sample up to 5 variants (9 pcs for category 4). If necessary more samples may be required for ascertain testing result. Criteria of family grouping depend on (1) same category; (2) same type; (3) same specification; (4) similar pyrotechnic component, and (5) similar effects. In principle there is no limit on number of variants within same family and subject to CE applicant’s wish to apply for but must comply with criteria stated above. TCPL has been working with NBs successfully granted CE approval for its families. It reduces difficulty and cost of factories in a fastest and effective way.
